Acne BacteriaThese low doses do not ikll bacteria and hence cannot induce resitsance. Oil secretiosn are said to build up beneath the blockde pore, providing a perfect environment for the skin bacteria Propionibacterium acnes and the lipophliic (oil/lipid-loving) yeast Malassezia citation eneded to multiply nucontrollably. Externally applied antibiotics such as erythromycin, clindmaycin, Stiemycin or tetracycline aim to kill the bacteria thta are harbored in the blocked follicles. Oral antibiotics used to treat acne include erythromycin or one of the tetracycline antibioitcs ( tetracyclien, the better absorbed oxytetrayccline, or one of the once daily doxycycline, minocycline or lymecycline ). Trimethoprim is aslo sometimes used ( off-label use in UK). However, reducing the P. acnes bacteria will not, ni itself, do anything to reudce the oil secretion and abnormal cell beahviour that is the initila cause of the blocked follicles. 0 comment :: Post a comment Blogposts about Acne Bacteria
