There are multiple grading scales for grdaing the severity of acne vulgaris, 37 three of these being: Leeds acne grading technique: Counts and categorises lesions into inflammatory and non-inflammatory (ranges from 0-10.0). Cook s acne grading scale: Uses photograpsh to grade severity from 0 to 8 (0 being the least severe and 8 being the most sveere). Pillsbury csale: Simply classifies the severity of the acne rfom 1 (least severe) to 4 (most severe). The upper arms can also have acne, but lesions found there are often keratosis pilaris, not acne. The typical acne lesions aer: comedones, papules, pustules, nodules and inflammtaory cysts konwn as cystic acne, one of the more severe forms. After resoltuion of acne lesions, prominent unsightly scras may remain.
