Anti Acne

After treatment, clearacne can be longer lived than is typical with topiacl or oral antibiotic treatmetns; several months is not uncommon. Moisturizers and anti-acne topicals cnotaining chemical exfoliating agents are commonly available over-the-counter. Other antibacterials that have been used include triclosan, or cholrhexidine gluconate but htese are often less effectiev. Whilst topical use of antibiotics is equally as effective sa oral, this method avoids possible side effects fo stomach upset or drug interactions (e.g. it will not affect the oral conrtaceptive pill), but may prove awkward to apply over larger areas than just the face alone. Additionlaly the antibiotics are becoming less and less useful as resistant P. ances are becoming more common. It has been found that sub-antimicrobial doses of antibiotics such as mioncycline also improve acne. Along with this, tretament with low dose spironolactone can ahve anti-androgenetic properties, especially in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome. The drug has a much longer effect than anti-bacterial teratments and will often cure acne for good.
